Getting a Liver Donor in India

'I need a liver donor for my mother, father, sister, brother, wife, husband, uncle, aunt, relative, etc.' ---- is a request by a phone call or pops in at The Liver Clinic, New Delhi that comes everyday.

While listening to the families and after the case study in detail during the consultation we came to know that this wasn't the only issue but a guilt which is put on the heads of liver disease patients family by the medical staff or one can say "transplant team members" specially in the private sector.

Liver donor issues arise as a result of misinformation and most of the times due to lack of information about the subject of liver transplantation.

We help liver patients and their families to cope with all such issues in detail and your problem related to liver donor is solved.

Second greatest leveler - Chicken Pox and its Indian Mata Concept

Sharing my experience of Chicken Pox Myths in North India and "The Mata Concept" in a hope to have comments with logics behind the precautions which i am really working out while sitting alone and idol with this problem.....

Type I -
Hasni khelni Mata - if u have up to 10-20 small blisters, not much on face (basically not much visible). Generally recovers completely in 5-7 days.

Type II
Choti Mata - Few blisters on face and neck and rest on palm, back and abdomen. Recovers within 10 days

Type III
Bari Mata - Upper body full of blisters including entire face. Recovers up to 15 days to 1 month.

Precautions - Equally applies to all types. I'm still confused how many of them to follow as every well-wisher who talks on phone has a different opinion. Following are few I came across.....

1) Isolation on neem leaves on the bed
2) No bath for 7 days
3) No onion garlic preparations for 5-7 days applies to all members
4) Dried Elephant's stool to be fumed in the room.
5) Yellow mustard seeds to be sprinkled all around ur bed.
6) No brooming in the house for 5-7 days.
7) No salty or sour food. No frying in the kitchen including "no tadka" to the Dal's for 5-7 days.
8) A girl with periods will not come around
9) Red dupatta on head, this will fasten the recovery
10) Must wear gold ornament to fasten the recovery.
11) On 4th day keep a mixture of milk and water near you with some offerings and flow it in a river next day.
12) Gugal dhoop to be fumed in the room.
13)  Finally Go for Sheetla Mata Pooja after at least 2-3 spots moori khana (crust formations) and to pray to Mata for faster recovery.
14) Offerings to the priest.
15) Offer some Kanjaks outside the temple with some cool items like Sweet Pulao or fruits etc.
16) For Choti Mata u can go to have to search a 'Jandi' which was in the nearby park few years back. Strange thing is that no one knows the name particular tree/plant. As its not available then follow step no. 13.
17) For Bari Mata one should go to Maa Kali temple

Above all precautions No. 18 is
What Doctors and Researchers are doing will give lot of pain and suffering in future and Mata will leave you with some kind of ailment forever?

And so on.....

Conjoined twins from J&K separated by rare surgery.

Surgeons and team of other physicians of a hospital in Gurgaon, Haryana helped two months old conjoined twins -Saboora and Safoora by separating them. They shared a single liver which was dissected and both got different lobes of liver. This surgery was possible because the intestines were not connected but floating in the others abdomen. The surgery was conducted by a huge team of doctors consisting of Gastro surgeons, Plastic surgeons, Gastroenterologists, Anesthesiologists and other paramedical staff. Many such surgeries are done in the world but this was India's first reported case.
